One of the most amazing things about living in Michigan is that we get to experience all four seasons. Recently, we were able to experience all four seasons within 48 hours! Each season brings its joys and challenges. As the seasons change, we must adapt. There are times when the transition occurs slowly. Yet, there are other times when the transition is sudden. You either have time to adjust or you must pivot quickly. Either way, you have to adapt.
The same holds true for us spiritually and naturally. The seasons in our life will change. In our worship services we sing songs expressing joy about new seasons. But truthfully, are we REALLY ready to transition to a new season? Are we truly ready to make the changes required to thrive in the new season? I submit to you that even as Believers transitioning to a new season can be challenging. The challenge comes because we are fearful of the unknown…we've never been in this place before. Many times we have become comfortable in our present season. We have allowed ourselves to be identified and defined by that season. Eccelesiastes 3:1 tells us that seasons will change…it is inevitable.
Adapting to the changing seasons in our lives is easier when we recognize that God is in control.God changes the seasons in our lives so that we can become who HE desires us to be. He doesn't want us to get comfortable in one space because He has more for us.Many of us fight the transition because we must relinquish control and step out of our comfort zone.Recently, I tried to return to a season that God ended. I was met with so many roadblocks that I had no choice but to yield to God. In each season of our life there will be development, growth, pruning, and harvest. Meaning we can develop new skills, have new opportunities, discard unnecessary things, and enlarge our territory.
Refusing to adapt to transition will cause you to become stagnant or worse yet, “die”. The death could be physically, mentally, or spiritually. We must understand that a season does not define ALL that we are. Yet that season is a PART of who we are. Daniel 2:21 tells us that GOD changes the times and the season. Will you trust God and make the transition? I am choosing to adapt and transition to my next season!
